This artwork by Philip Taaffe achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in June this year. In the Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Timothy's Gate Transfigured sold for GBP 63,000.00 (€ 73,321.15) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 30,000.00. Admittedly, works by Philip Taaffe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Midnight Blue in May 2011 with an auction result of USD 434,500.00 (€ 302,239.84).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Philip Taaffe erzielte im Juni diesen Jahres bei Christies in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Timothy's Gate Transfigured für GBP 63.000,00 (€ 73.321,15) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 30.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Philip Taaffe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Midnight Blue im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 434.500,00 (€ 302.239,84).
