This artwork by Philip Taaffe achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Brussels in October this year. In the First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online auction, the work Written on the Bay sold for GBP 30,240.00 (€ 34,723.92) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 15,000.00. Admittedly, works by Philip Taaffe have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Midnight Blue in May 2011 with an auction result of USD 434,500.00 (€ 302,239.84).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Philip Taaffe erzielte im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Christies in Brüssel einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online wurde die Arbeit Written on the Bay für GBP 30.240,00 (€ 34.723,92) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 15.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Philip Taaffe auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Midnight Blue im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 434.500,00 (€ 302.239,84).
