This artwork by Philip Taaffe achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Brussels in October this year. In the First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online auction, the work without title sold for GBP 3,780.00 (€ 4,340.49) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 2,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philip Taaffe achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Midnight Blue in May 2011 with an auction result of USD 434,500.00 (€ 302,239.84).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 89 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Philip Taaffe erzielte im Oktober diesen Jahres bei Christies in Brüssel einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online wurde diese Arbeit ohne Titel für GBP 3.780,00 (€ 4.340,49) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 2.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Philip Taaffe erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Midnight Blue im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 434.500,00 (€ 302.239,84).
