In March this year Phillips in London held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included the work Overtone by Philip Taaffe. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 69,850.00 (€ 79,467.87), 55% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Philip Taaffe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Midnight Blue, which sold at auction in May 2011 for USD 434,500.00 (€ 302,239.84).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 55 % übertroffen
Im März diesen Jahres führte Phillips in London die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Overtone von Philip Taaffe zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 69.850,00 (€ 79.467,87) und damit 55% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Philip Taaffe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Midnight Blue beobachtet, die im Mai 2011 für USD 434.500,00 (€ 302.239,84) versteigert wurde.
