Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2015 Christies in London held the auction Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale, which included the work Portrait of Ralph Crathorne (d. 1755), of Ness Hall, North Riding, Yorkshire, full-length, seated at a table with grapes, peaches, a riding hat, a hammer and a pruning knife, in a landscape, gesturing to a vinery wall, in a landscape by Philippe Mercier. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 43,750.00 (€ 62,022.81) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Philippe Mercier have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Allegories Of The Five Senses: Hearing, Smell, Sight, Taste And Touch in January 2010 with an auction result of USD 386,500.00 (€ 278,658.98).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2015 führte Christies in London die Auktion Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Portrait of Ralph Crathorne (d. 1755), of Ness Hall, North Riding, Yorkshire, full-length, seated at a table with grapes, peaches, a riding hat, a hammer and a pruning knife, in a landscape, gesturing to a vinery wall, in a landscape von Philippe Mercier zur Versteigerung kam.
