Auction result well in line with expectations

The work An Allegory of Fire; and An Allegory of Water by Philippe Mercier was sold in the Old Masters & 19th Century Art auction at Christies in London in October 2010. The price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,206.35) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 5,000.00 – 8,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philippe Mercier achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Allegories Of The Five Senses: Hearing, Smell, Sight, Taste And Touch in January 2010 with an auction result of USD 386,500.00 (€ 278,658.98).

Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen

Die Arbeit An Allegory of Fire; and An Allegory of Water von Philippe Mercier wurde im Oktober 2010 in der Auktion Old Masters & 19th Century Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 6.250,00 (€ 7.206,35) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 5.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Philippe Mercier erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Allegories Of The Five Senses: Hearing, Smell, Sight, Taste And Touch im Januar 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 386.500,00 (€ 278.658,98).
