Auction result misses estimated price range
In January 2015 a collector was able to acquire the work A Boy Drawing At His Desk by Philippe Mercier for USD 53,125.00 (€ 47,054.92). This price was achieved in the auction Master Paintings and Sculpture: Part II at Sothebys in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00 set by the auction house. Admittedly, works by Philippe Mercier have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Allegories Of The Five Senses: Hearing, Smell, Sight, Taste And Touch in January 2010 with an auction result of USD 386,500.00 (€ 278,658.98).
