Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Paris (illustrated); Palais de Justice; Pont des Invalides; and Granville 1841, France by Philip John Ouless was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 125.00 (€ 141.44). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Philip John Ouless achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View taken from under South Hill, St Helier, Jersey in November 2010 with an auction result of GBP 57,650.00 (€ 68,891.66).
