Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Paul Lauritz achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Los Angeles in August last year. In the California Art auction, the work Snow on the San Gabriels sold for USD 12,112.50 (€ 12,034.28) - well above the upper estimate of USD 6,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Paul Lauritz; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot California valley with poppies and lupine sold at auction in April last year with the realized price of USD 21,675.00 (€ 20,570.37).
