Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Natural Selection From Sandman Series by Patricia Piccinini was sold in the AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS auction at Christies in Sydney in August 2004. The price achieved of AUD 23,900.00 (€ 13,871.53) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as AUD 20,000.00 – 30,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Patricia Piccinini - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Australian Canopy, which sold at auction in August 2009 for AUD 56,400.00 (€ 33,158.67).

Die Arbeit Natural Selection From Sandman Series von Patricia Piccinini wurde im August 2004 in der Auktion AUSTRALIAN, INTERNATIONAL AND CONTEMPORARY PAINTINGS bei Christies in Sydney versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von AUD 23.900,00 (€ 13.871,53) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit AUD 20.000,00 – 30.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Patricia Piccinini mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Australian Canopy beobachtet, die im August 2009 für AUD 56.400,00 (€ 33.158,67) versteigert wurde.
