Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Pricilla by Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe was auctioned at Phillips in New York in November last year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 63,000.00 (€ 61,028.77) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Shade of Black, which sold at auction in July 2020 for USD 250,000.00 (€ 212,332.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Pricilla von Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe kam im November letzten Jahres bei Phillips in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 63.000,00 (€ 61.028,77) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Otis Kwame Kye Quaicoe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Shade of Black beobachtet, die im Juli 2020 für USD 250.000,00 (€ 212.332,26) versteigert wurde.
