In the American Art auction, the work Old Faithful, Yellowstone sold for USD 150,000.00 (€ 128,534.70) - well above the upper estimate of USD 70,000.00. Admittedly, works by Oscar Edmund Berninghaus have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Ancient Forest of the Indians 25 x 30 in. framed 30 x 35 in. in November last year with an auction result of USD 542,175.00 (€ 525,210.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Oscar Edmund Berninghaus erzielte im Mai 2018 bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion American Art wurde die Arbeit Old Faithful, Yellowstone für USD 150.000,00 (€ 128.534,70) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 70.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Oscar Edmund Berninghaus auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Ancient Forest of the Indians 25 x 30 in. framed 30 x 35 in. im November letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 542.175,00 (€ 525.210,69).
