Auction result well in line with expectations
In August 2021 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Portrait of the WestThe Diane and Sam Stewart Collection, which included the work Gathering For the Rabbit Hunt by Oscar Edmund Berninghaus. The price achieved of USD 225,312.50 (€ 190,942.80) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Oscar Edmund Berninghaus - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Ancient Forest of the Indians 25 x 30 in. framed 30 x 35 in., which sold at auction in November last year for USD 542,175.00 (€ 525,210.69).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im August 2021 führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Portrait of the WestThe Diane and Sam Stewart Collection durch, in der auch die Arbeit Gathering For the Rabbit Hunt von Oscar Edmund Berninghaus zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 225.312,50 (€ 190.942,80) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Oscar Edmund Berninghaus mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Ancient Forest of the Indians 25 x 30 in. framed 30 x 35 in. beobachtet, die im November letzten Jahres für USD 542.175,00 (€ 525.210,69) versteigert wurde.
