Auction result well in line with expectations
In November last year Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction The Collection of G. Andrew Bjurman, which included the work On to New Lands 11 1/4 x 14 1/4 in. framed 17 x 20 in. by Oscar Edmund Berninghaus. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 31,875.00 (€ 30,877.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Oscar Edmund Berninghaus achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Ancient Forest of the Indians 25 x 30 in. framed 30 x 35 in. in November last year with an auction result of USD 542,175.00 (€ 525,210.69).
