The complete suite, comprising of 8 lithographs in colors on Arches paper, each signed in pencil and numbered 47/200 (there were also 50 artist's proofs), with title page, colophon also numbered '47' and table of contents, published/printed by Raymond & Raymond, Inc. and Circle Gallery, Ltd./Mourlot, Paris, with full margins, lacking original beige linen portfolio. Auction result misses estimated price range
In May this year a collector was able to acquire the work Tom Sawyer Suite (8 works) by Norman Rockwell for USD 3,825.00 (€ 3,590.20). This price was achieved in the auction Modern & Contemporary Prints & Multiples at Bonhams and was even below the estimate range of USD 4,000.00 – 6,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Norman Rockwell achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Saying Grace in December 2013 with an auction result of USD 46,085,000.00 (€ 33,445,823.35).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Mai diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Tom Sawyer Suite (8 works) von Norman Rockwell für USD 3.825,00 (€ 3.590,20) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Modern & Contemporary Prints & Multiples bei Bonhams erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 4.000,00 – 6.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Norman Rockwell erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Saying Grace im Dezember 2013 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 46.085.000,00 (€ 33.445.823,35).
