This artwork by Norman Adams achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2005. In the 20th Century British Art auction, the work Village In The Mountains, Southern France; And Evening In The Orchard, The Ardeche sold for GBP 720.00 (€ 1,062.95) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 300.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Norman Adams - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Oliviers in the Weed Field; Forest, Ardéche; Yorkshire Study; Cherry Orchard, Ardéche; Trees at Douk Ghyll; South France; and Bright Light on the Sea, Hebridean Study, which sold at auction in May 2007 for GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,648.82).
