Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Sea Study With Islands And Small Boats At Moorings In The Bay, Hebridean Study; And 3 Further Studies By The Same Hand by Norman Adams was auctioned at Christies in London in March 2006, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 600.00 – 800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 360.00 (€ 515.82). Admittedly, works by Norman Adams have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Oliviers in the Weed Field; Forest, Ardéche; Yorkshire Study; Cherry Orchard, Ardéche; Trees at Douk Ghyll; South France; and Bright Light on the Sea, Hebridean Study in May 2007 with an auction result of GBP 1,800.00 (€ 2,648.82).
