The »bidding war« ended at GBP 19,125.00 (€ 22,805.89), 59% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Nicholas Matthew Condy - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Fernande, R.W.Y.C. winning the Queen's Vase, Plymouth, August 26th, 1849; and A schooner yacht at anchor off Mount Edgcumbe, Plymouth, which sold at auction in November 2003 for GBP 41,125.00 (€ 59,035.55).
