Upper estimate price exceeded by 36 %.
In October last year Bonhams in London held the auction The Marine Sale, which included the work HMS Britannia at Plymouth by Nicholas Matthew Condy. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,040.00 (€ 2,376.58), 36% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicholas Matthew Condy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fernande, R.W.Y.C. winning the Queen's Vase, Plymouth, August 26th, 1849; and A schooner yacht at anchor off Mount Edgcumbe, Plymouth in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 41,125.00 (€ 59,035.55).
