Auction result well in line with expectations

The work A Royal Navy frigate at anchor in Plymouth by Nicholas Matthew Condy was sold in the The Marine Sale auction at Bonhams in April this year. The price achieved of GBP 1,402.50 (€ 1,598.39) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nicholas Matthew Condy achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Fernande, R.W.Y.C. winning the Queen's Vase, Plymouth, August 26th, 1849; and A schooner yacht at anchor off Mount Edgcumbe, Plymouth in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 41,125.00 (€ 59,035.55).
