Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Shipping in Plymouth harbour, with the Royal William Victualling Yard, Stonehouse in the distance by Nicholas Matthew Condy was auctioned at Bonhams in London in April last year. The price achieved of GBP 5,355.00 (€ 6,385.65) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. Admittedly, works by Nicholas Matthew Condy have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Fernande, R.W.Y.C. winning the Queen's Vase, Plymouth, August 26th, 1849; and A schooner yacht at anchor off Mount Edgcumbe, Plymouth in November 2003 with an auction result of GBP 41,125.00 (€ 59,035.55).
