Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Still Life With Books, Clarinet And Music by Nicholas Alden Brooks was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2008, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 18,000.00 – 25,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 11,875.00 (€ 8,433.35). Admittedly, works by Nicholas Alden Brooks have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Still Life With Vase And Books in May 2006 with an auction result of USD 57,600.00 (€ 44,884.28).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Still Life With Books, Clarinet And Music von Nicholas Alden Brooks im September 2008 bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 18.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 11.875,00 (€ 8.433,35) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Nicholas Alden Brooks auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Still Life With Vase And Books im Mai 2006 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 57.600,00 (€ 44.884,28).
