The work A lady, facing left in white dress with black lace bodice and lace-bordered white fichu, pearl sash, flowers and black cap with pointed peak in her powdered hair by Nathaniel Hone the Elder was auctioned at Christies in London in May 2000. It achieved a price of GBP 1,151.50 (€ 1,847.73), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 44%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nathaniel Hone the Elder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Double portrait of Lieutenant-General the Hon. Philip Sherard and Captain William Tiffin, at the Battle of Brücke-Mühle, 21 September 1762, the former full-length in the uniform of the 1st Regiment of Foot Guards, the latter three-quarter-length, c in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 294,500.00 (€
