Auction result well in line with expectations
In June 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Important British Paintings, which included the work Portrait Of A Lady Said To Be Ann Gardiner (1746-1810) by Nathaniel Hone the Elder. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 6,250.00 (€ 7,900.21) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nathaniel Hone the Elder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Double portrait of Lieutenant-General the Hon. Philip Sherard and Captain William Tiffin, at the Battle of Brücke-Mühle, 21 September 1762, the former full-length in the uniform of the 1st Regiment of Foot Guards, the latter three-quarter-length, c in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 294,500.00 (€
Philip Sherard and Captain William Tiffin, at the Battle of Brücke-Mühle, 21 September 1762, the former full-length in the uniform of the 1st Regiment of Foot Guards, the latter three-quarter-length, c im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 294.500,00 (€ 374.616,87
