Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2008 Sothebys in London held the auction Important Miniatures from a Private Collection, which included the work Portrait Of A Lady by Nathaniel Hone the Elder. The price achieved of GBP 1,500.00 (€ 1,912.29) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,200.00 – 1,800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nathaniel Hone the Elder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Double portrait of Lieutenant-General the Hon. Philip Sherard and Captain William Tiffin, at the Battle of Brücke-Mühle, 21 September 1762, the former full-length in the uniform of the 1st Regiment of Foot Guards, the latter three-quarter-length, c in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 294,500.00 (€
Philip Sherard and Captain William Tiffin, at the Battle of Brücke-Mühle, 21 September 1762, the former full-length in the uniform of the 1st Regiment of Foot Guards, the latter three-quarter-length, c im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 294.500,00 (€ 374.616,87).
