This artwork by Nathaniel Hone the Elder achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in May 2004. In the THE IRISH SALE auction, the work A gentleman, called Admiral Keith Stewart, facing left in gold-bordered blue coat, gold-bordered white waistcoat and lace cravat, powdered wig en queue sold for GBP 1,553.50 (€ 2,330.82) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nathaniel Hone the Elder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Double portrait of Lieutenant-General the Hon. Philip Sherard and Captain William Tiffin, at the Battle of Brücke-Mühle, 21 September 1762, the former full-length in the uniform of the 1st Regiment of Foot Guards, the latter three-quarter-length, c in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 294,500.00 (€

Philip Sherard and Captain William Tiffin, at the Battle of Brücke-Mühle, 21 September 1762, the former full-length in the uniform of the 1st Regiment of Foot Guards, the latter three-quarter-length, c im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 294.500,00 (€ 374.616,87).
