Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Nathaniel Hone the Elder achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in May 2007. In the The Irish Sale auction, the work Portrait Of A Lady sold for GBP 15,600.00 (€ 22,956.46) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 6,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nathaniel Hone the Elder achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Double portrait of Lieutenant-General the Hon. Philip Sherard and Captain William Tiffin, at the Battle of Brücke-Mühle, 21 September 1762, the former full-length in the uniform of the 1st Regiment of Foot Guards, the latter three-quarter-length, c in May 2008 with an auction result of GBP 294,500.00 (€

Philip Sherard and Captain William Tiffin, at the Battle of Brücke-Mühle, 21 September 1762, the former full-length in the uniform of the 1st Regiment of Foot Guards, the latter three-quarter-length, c im Mai 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 294.500,00 (€ 374.616,87).
