Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait Of Lady Elizabeth Compton (1760-1835), Later Countess Of Burlington by Nathaniel Dance-Holland was sold in the Old Master & British Paintings Day Sale auction at Sothebys in London in December 2013. It changed hands for a price of GBP 18,750.00 (€ 22,553.34) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of GBP 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Nathaniel Dance-Holland achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Thomas Assheton-Smith (1752-1828), full-length, in a red jacket in July 2021 with an auction result of GBP 400,000.00 (€ 469,082.94).
