Acquired directly from the artist in 1991 | Bendre produced this painting especially for the current owner, who was a close personal friend and a frequent visitor to his house in Kala Nagar near Bandra. This work was painted towards the end of the artist's life, when he was producing very few works and there was a long waiting list for his paintings.

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work Pancham by Narayan Shridhar Bendre was auctioned at Sothebys in London in October 2021. It achieved a price of GBP 81,900.00 (€ 97,029.38), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 17%. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Narayan Shridhar Bendre - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Untitled (Three Women), which sold at auction in September 2021 for USD 225,000.00 (€ 194,350.87).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Pancham von Narayan Shridhar Bendre kam im Oktober 2021 bei Sothebys in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 81.900,00 (€ 97.029,38) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 17%. Für andere Arbeiten von Narayan Shridhar Bendre mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Untitled (Three Women) beobachtet, die im September 2021 für USD 225.000,00 (€ 194.350,87) versteigert wurde.
