Auction result well in line with expectations
The work "On Nearer Approach He Was Still More Surprised At The Singularity Of The Stranger'S Appearance" ("These Fairy Mountains," Rip Van Winkle And His Dog Wolf) by N. C. Wyeth was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in November 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000,000.00 – 1,500,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,095,000.00 (€ 967,058.20) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by N. C. Wyeth have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait Of A Farmer (Pennsylvania Farmer) in May 2018 with an auction result of USD 5,985,900.00 (€ 5,129,305.91).

Die Arbeit "On Nearer Approach He Was Still More Surprised At The Singularity Of The Stranger'S Appearance" ("These Fairy Mountains," Rip Van Winkle And His Dog Wolf) von N. C. Wyeth kam im November 2018 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000.000,00 – 1.500.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.095.000,00 (€ 967.058,20) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen.
