In May 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Portrait Of A Farmer (Pennsylvania Farmer) by N. C. Wyeth. The »bidding war« ended at USD 5,985,900.00 (€ 5,129,305.91), 71% above the upper estimate. This high result makes Portrait Of A Farmer (Pennsylvania Farmer) the most expensive artwork by N. C. Wyeth that we have observed at auctions so far.
