This artwork by Morris Graves achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in November 2017. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale - Morning Session auction, the work Spirit Bird sold for USD 43,750.00 (€ 36,770.89) - well above the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Morris Graves - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bird Singing in the Moonlight, which sold at auction in November 2003 for USD 141,900.00 (€ 118,299.29).

In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale - Morning Session wurde die Arbeit Spirit Bird für USD 43.750,00 (€ 36.770,89) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Morris Graves mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bird Singing in the Moonlight beobachtet, die im November 2003 für USD 141.900,00 (€ 118.299,29) versteigert wurde.
