Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Woodpecker, 1943 by Morris Graves was auctioned at Bonhams in April this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,120.00 (€ 5,543.48) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Morris Graves achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bird Singing in the Moonlight in November 2003 with an auction result of USD 141,900.00 (€ 118,299.29).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Woodpecker, 1943 von Morris Graves kam im April diesen Jahres bei Bonhams zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 8.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.120,00 (€ 5.543,48) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Morris Graves erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Bird Singing in the Moonlight im November 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 141.900,00 (€ 118.299,29).
