Auction result well in line with expectations
In April 2021 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art, which included the work Bird, circa 1940s-1950s by Morris Graves. It changed hands for a price of USD 19,062.50 (€ 15,845.80) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 15,000.00 – 20,000.00. Admittedly, works by Morris Graves have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bird Singing in the Moonlight in November 2003 with an auction result of USD 141,900.00 (€ 118,299.29).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im April 2021 führte Bonhams in Los Angeles die Auktion Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Bird, circa 1940s-1950s von Morris Graves zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 19.062,50 (€ 15.845,80) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 15.000,00 – 20.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Morris Graves auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Bird Singing in the Moonlight im November 2003 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 141.900,00 (€ 118.299,29).
