Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2021 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included the work Webbed II by Mona Hatoum. The price achieved of USD 100,000.00 (€ 88,597.50) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mona Hatoum - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Silence, which sold at auction in November 2011 for USD 470,500.00 (€ 349,736.12).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2021 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Webbed II von Mona Hatoum zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 100.000,00 (€ 88.597,50) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Mona Hatoum mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Silence beobachtet, die im November 2011 für USD 470.500,00 (€ 349.736,12) versteigert wurde.
