This artwork by Mitsuru Watanabe achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in May 2016. In the Asian Contemporary Art (Day Sale) auction, the work Naoko Bathing in the Woods of Rousseau sold for HKD 687,500.00 (€ 79,462.28) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 380,000.00. This high result makes Naoko Bathing in the Woods of Rousseau the most expensive artwork by Mitsuru Watanabe that we have observed at auctions so far.
