This artwork by Mitsuru Watanabe achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in December 2021. In the 21st Century Art Day Sale auction, the work Naoko Bathing in Rousseau’s Forest sold for HKD 500,000.00 (€ 56,635.45) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 250,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Mitsuru Watanabe; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Naoko Bathing in the Woods of Rousseau sold at auction in May 2016 with the realized price of HKD 687,500.00 (€ 79,462.28).

Dieses Kunstwerk von Mitsuru Watanabe erzielte im Dezember 2021 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 21st Century Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Naoko Bathing in Rousseau’s Forest für HKD 500.000,00 (€ 56.635,45) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 250.000,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Mitsuru Watanabe; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Naoko Bathing in the Woods of Rousseau im Mai 2016 mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 687.500,00 (€ 79.462,28).
