In May 2009 Christies in Hong Kong held the auction Asian Contemporary Art (Day Sale), which included the work In GYOSHU's Garden/Yukiko with Camellia by Mitsuru Watanabe. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 375,000.00 (€ 34,245.36), 50% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mitsuru Watanabe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Naoko Bathing in the Woods of Rousseau, which sold at auction in May 2016 for HKD 687,500.00 (€ 79,462.28).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2009 führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion Asian Contemporary Art (Day Sale) durch, in der auch die Arbeit In GYOSHU's Garden/Yukiko with Camellia von Mitsuru Watanabe zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 375.000,00 (€ 34.245,36) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Mitsuru Watanabe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Naoko Bathing in the Woods of Rousseau beobachtet, die im Mai 2016 für HKD 687.500,00 (€ 79.462,28) versteigert wurde.
