Auction result well in line with expectations
In October this year Phillips in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Gavin Coal Power Plant, Cheshire, Ohio from American Power by Mitch Epstein. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 15,240.00 (€ 14,420.89) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mitch Epstein - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Amos Coal Power Plant, West Virginia from American Power, which sold at auction in April 2015 for USD 62,500.00 (€ 55,993.55).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Gavin Coal Power Plant, Cheshire, Ohio from American Power von Mitch Epstein zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 15.240,00 (€ 14.420,89) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Mitch Epstein mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Amos Coal Power Plant, West Virginia from American Power beobachtet, die im April 2015 für USD 62.500,00 (€ 55.993,55) versteigert wurde.
