Auction result well in line with expectations
The work High Priestess by Mickalene Thomas was sold in the First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online auction at Christies in London in October last year. The price achieved of GBP 15,120.00 (€ 17,614.63) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mickalene Thomas achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Racquel Reclining Wearing Purple Jumpsuit in May 2021 with an auction result of USD 1,830,000.00 (€ 1,500,738.07).

Die Arbeit High Priestess von Mickalene Thomas wurde im Oktober letzten Jahres in der Auktion First Open: Post-War and Contemporary Art Online bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 15.120,00 (€ 17.614,63) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 12.000,00 – 18.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mickalene Thomas erzielen.
