Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Campo di Santi Giovanni e Paolo and the Scuola di San Marco, Venice by Michele Marieschi was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2019, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 150,000.00 – 250,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 118,750.00 (€ 140,348.60). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Michele Marieschi achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Venice, The Bacino Di San Marco Looking Towards The Palazzo Ducale And The Piazzetta in July 2014 with an auction result of GBP 2,210,500.00 (€ 2,788,135.51).
