In the Maritime Art auction, the work The clipper ship Piako off the coast of England changed hands for USD 9,600.00 (€ 7,385.75) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Michael James Whitehand - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Ailsa and Britannia racing at the Royal Clyde Yacht Club Regatta, which sold at auction in July 2004 for USD 19,120.00 (€ 15,890.96).
