The »bidding war« ended at GBP 1,188.00 (€ 1,499.97), 70% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Michael Cardew - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work A 'River' Pattern Plate, which sold at auction in November 2011 for GBP 3,000.00 (€ 3,502.19).
