Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2005 Christies in London held the auction 20th Century British Art, which included the work Sleeping Mouse by Mervyn Peake. The price achieved of GBP 540.00 (€ 797.21) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 400.00 – 600.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mervyn Peake achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The red room in April 2019 with an auction result of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,995.22).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2005 führte Christies in London die Auktion 20th Century British Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Sleeping Mouse von Mervyn Peake zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 540,00 (€ 797,21) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mervyn Peake erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The red room im April 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 13.750,00 (€ 15.995,22).
