This artwork by Mervyn Peake achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in Olympia in March 2007. In the 20th Century British & Irish Art auction, the work Fruit sold for GBP 3,360.00 (€ 4,945.54) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 1,800.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mervyn Peake - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The red room, which sold at auction in April 2019 for GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,995.22).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 87 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Mervyn Peake erzielte im März 2007 bei Sothebys in Olympia einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century British & Irish Art wurde die Arbeit Fruit für GBP 3.360,00 (€ 4.945,54) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 1.800,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Mervyn Peake mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The red room beobachtet, die im April 2019 für GBP 13.750,00 (€ 15.995,22) versteigert wurde.
