Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Rowing Off Sark Coast by Mervyn Peake was auctioned at Sothebys in Olympia in September 2006. The price achieved of GBP 4,560.00 (€ 6,726.96) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Mervyn Peake - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The red room, which sold at auction in April 2019 for GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,995.22).

Die Arbeit Rowing Off Sark Coast von Mervyn Peake kam im September 2006 bei Sothebys in Olympia zur Auktion. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 4.560,00 (€ 6.726,96) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Mervyn Peake mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The red room beobachtet, die im April 2019 für GBP 13.750,00 (€ 15.995,22) versteigert wurde.
