Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Portrait of Margot Fonteyn by Mervyn Peake was sold in the Modern British Art auction at Sothebys in London in November 2021. The price achieved of GBP 1,260.00 (€ 1,479.36) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Mervyn Peake achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The red room in April 2019 with an auction result of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,995.22).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Portrait of Margot Fonteyn von Mervyn Peake wurde im November 2021 in der Auktion Modern British Art bei Sothebys in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 1.260,00 (€ 1.479,36) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Mervyn Peake erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The red room im April 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 13.750,00 (€ 15.995,22).
