Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Boy Sleeping; The Artist'S Son by Mervyn Peake was auctioned at Christies in London in December 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 1,875.00 (€ 2,547.81). Admittedly, works by Mervyn Peake have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The red room in April 2019 with an auction result of GBP 13,750.00 (€ 15,995.22).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Boy Sleeping; The Artist'S Son von Mervyn Peake im Dezember 2007 bei Christies in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 1.875,00 (€ 2.547,81) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Mervyn Peake auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The red room im April 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 13.750,00 (€ 15.995,22).
