This artwork by Melle achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Amsterdam in January 2002. In the PICTURES WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS auction, the work Two bound volumes consisting of 178 drawings sold for EUR 7,050.00 - well above the upper estimate of EUR 2,800.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Melle; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot A bird on stilts sold at auction in June 2003 with the realized price of EUR 10,755.00.

Dieses Kunstwerk von Melle erzielte im Januar 2002 bei Christies in Amsterdam einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion PICTURES WATERCOLOURS AND DRAWINGS wurde die Arbeit Two bound volumes consisting of 178 drawings für EUR 7.050,00 versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von EUR 2.800,00. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Melle; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit A bird on stilts im Juni 2003 mit dem Hammerpreis von EUR 10.755,00.
