Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Double-sided work: (i) New Hampshire Scene; (ii) Untitled (Trees and Houses) by Maurice Brazil Prendergast was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session auction at Phillips in New York in June 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 15,000.00 – 25,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 15,120.00 (€ 12,761.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Maurice Brazil Prendergast achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Stony Beach in May 2001 with an auction result of USD 3,526,000.00 (€ 4,170,313.42).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Double-sided work: (i) New Hampshire Scene; (ii) Untitled (Trees and Houses) von Maurice Brazil Prendergast wurde im Juni 2021 in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Morning Session bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 15.000,00 – 25.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 15.120,00 (€ 12.761,65) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Maurice Brazil Prendergast erzielen.
